To quote my friend Erich who dances in this, “I love this little film.” We decided to not be perfectionists and to just make a video about something we love.

It was an incredibly collaborative process, and all credit to Erich for having the idea to add the voiceover.

We submitted this to the Portland Dance Film Festival. To get in would be quite validating (TBD on if we get in or not), though that’s not why we made it. We made it for self-expression.

Sound In, Art Out

Fine - Dwellings

Cinematographer

This video was so fun to film. We played with how to light the white seamless wall so that it was something of a void state, and how to convey claustrophobia in the “yarn world.”

Some of my favorite shots are with the “architect” at 01:31 and 02:06.

I love dance. This was my first time filming it. We experimented with filming my Mom. This take was our first. It’s my favorite take because she’s smiling, even though I lose her in the frame a time or two, and though the video is a bit shaky.

Additionally, I would love to dance in a video *with* my mom someday.

Indigenous Arts and Culture

Director

The Portland Indigenous Marketplace used to take place up the street from my apartment, and I wanted to know more about the community who gather there. From there, this piece became interviews with three Indigenous leaders and artists.

Featuring Lluvia Magali Morello (Executive Director of the PIM), Renea Perry (Executive Director of the Portland All Nations Canoe Family), and Rochelle Kulei Nielsen (artist and teacher).

My first and only short film (so far). I learned a lot. Some of the shots are beautiful, though the dialogue drags and I wish I’d made it less dialogue-heavy.

I was discovering my own sovereignty at the time, and wanted to spread the word to other women. Also: crones rule. I love me a crone.

That Graduate - Leave the Mild

Production Designer

The Director and I worked together to choose colors that corresponded to the theme for this music video. I’m super proud of the visual aesthetic in the exterior live band scene. Many of those props are from Rose City Props in Portland, OR, who gave us a great deal on renting artwork.

Forever Ever

2nd AC
Art Director

My main duties were set decor and props for this ghostly tale. We brought a ton of items into a chic, upscale AirBnB to try and cozy it up into a family’s cabin. I made tofu eyeballs, enjoyed figuring out the timing to drip fake blood into milk, and ran the clapper on set as the 2nd AC.

Ruby Adelaide - Stuck on You

Art Director

The Production Designer and I worked together to makeover various locations including an AirBnb, a community college classroom, and an empty college hallway.

Roxy Doll - As Above So Below

Production Designer

This music video was my first time production designing. I put tons of time and effort into getting the props and set decor for the psychic’s lair. Overall, I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
